
What To Do When Your Cat Won’t Eat
In humans, anorexia is an eating disorder characterized by unhealthy, intentional weight loss and by an unusual fear of weight gain often. Anorexics don’t eat enough food to maintain good health. In cats, it’s a completely different situation. First of all, feline anorexia is no eating disorder or an illness unto itself even.
It’s an indicator. Something is making the kitty avoid food and it requires a great deal of detective work by a vet to access the bottom from it. The problem will there be isn’t lots of time. An adult kitty can suffer serious implications if they go without food for more than 24 hours. For any kitten that’s significantly less than six weeks old, 12 hours without food can be fatal.

When a kitty will go without food, an army of excess fat cells is sent to the liver organ to be converted into energy. The problem is, a cat’s liver isn’t very effective at processing fat, which leads to a life-threatening fat build-up called feline hepatic lipidosis, or fatty liver organ disease, which can cause liver failing and death. The causes of feline anorexia can be either physical or psychological, and while the vet tries to sort things out, considering that the cat can’t offer any verbal clues life-saving measures have to be taken. Options include force-feeding, syringe-feeding, tube-feeding, and/or the utilization of drugs that promote the appetite. Force nourishing usually ends up in a wrestling match.

I think this is the third time. Domesticated pets do it Even. In the pet world, if you’re sick or injured, you’re at the mercy of predation or domination, so that it behooves them to do something as normal as it can be. Sometimes when the pets finally screen symptoms it’s either too late to help or it is becoming very complicated.
